MIS Prime World ensures that all the children in our care are happy, confident, and enthusiastic learners. We provide an appropriate and balanced academic challenge that enables students to realize their unique potential in a supportive environment.

Primary School students engage in the most progressive education in the world “Chinese National Curriculum” plus “China STEAM”. Students will study Mathematics and Sciences in Chinese plus specialist teachers for Modern Chinese Philosophy, Kid-Entrepreneur mindset, Physical Education, Art, Design Technology, and Music. Where possible, the learning in these subjects is also linked to the current topic.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

The curriculum is organised under areas of learning, each of which encompasses the learning outcomes, standards and benchmarks of ‘subjects’ which were formerly taught discretely.

In Key Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1 to 6) the Areas of Learning are:
• Understanding, Communication and Language (English, Mandarin and Thai)
(inc. English , Mandarin and Thai as Additional Languages)
• Mathematical Understanding (Mathematics)
• Scientific and Technological Understanding (Science, Design Technology and Computing)
• Human, Social and Environmental Understanding (History, Geography and Citizenship)
• Understand Physical Development, Health and Well-Being (Personal, Social and Health Education and Physical Education)
• Understanding the Arts (Art and Design, Dance, Drama and Music)

The Chinese curriculum of the school adopts the textbooks published by the Chinese National Education Bureau, and offers Chinese language, mathematics, science, society and STEAM courses, which are in line with domestic standards in promoting Creative Thinking Skills and Lifelong Learners.

The requirement for non-Chinese students is to reach HSK Level 5 when they graduate from Primary school

We are committed to every student making the best possible progress, therefore we differentiate learning so that all children can experience success and have a sense of achievement

In order to differentiate effectively, the teachers begin the planning process by establishing an understanding of the student’s prior skills and knowledge.

These baseline assessments form the foundation of differentiated instruction ensuring we meet the needs of the full range of abilities in the classroom.

If a student’s needs fall outside the ‘differentiation in the mainstream’ group, their needs will be supported by members of the Inclusion department. This includes supporting, enriching and extending learning.

Our curriculum will be taught through a pedagogy that:
• promotes problem solving, creativity and communication
• enables and fosters children’s natural curiosity
• excites, promotes and sustains children’s interest
• enables children to reflect on and evaluate their learning
• offer all children a memorable experience within each topic of work

Discrete Subjects
Discrete subjects are taught where appropriate.

Mathematics and Sciences are taught separately (in both English and Mandarin languages) as well as being incorporated into the trans-disciplinary themes where relevant.

The MIS curriculum follows Chinese National Curriculum for mathematics and the UK Primary Mathematics Framework taught through White Rose Maths.
