MANDARIN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Mandarin International School is founded and financed by Thailand’s Asia Education Group, a subsidiary of the Cunjin Education Group. It has been approved and recognized by the Office of Private Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, as well as the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand. MIS is the first and only large, high-end international school with internationally recognized academic qualifications in Thailand to conduct all teaching in Chinese, with courses fully in-line with the Chinese curriculum, while also offering international English courses.
MIS will open in Thailand in 2021 and will be located next to the Chinese embassy in Thailand, in a highly developed and popular commercial area. The school campus size is 13,200 square meters. It systematically provides continuous, high-end Chinese international courses for Thai, Chinese, and foreign students from kindergarten to high school. The school is staffed with many outstanding Chinese, American, British, and Thai teachers. MIS’s mission statement is as follows: “Mandarin International School is the first Chinese international school to combine modern conceptions of Eastern wisdom with Western educational concepts. We aim to enrich students with an immersive bilingual teaching model, inspiring the next generation with our outstanding academic and enterprising spirit, to reform education and change the world with a mature way of thinking.”
MIS provides Chinese national students, Thai Chinese students, and students from all other countries with courses that are in sync with the Chinese curriculum. We utilize our advantage of teaching all lessons in Chinese to establish long-term cooperation agreements with multiple Chinese universities, creating an open lane for students to travel to China for further studies. MIS has advanced professional Chinese courses and world-class teachers. We selectively introduce original teaching materials from China, and the majority of courses are taught in Chinese. The school will upgrade its curriculum annually to ensure that it is in pace with societal and technological progress so that the knowledge and education that our students receive will always be at the cutting edge of Chinese educational trends.
MIS also provides English courses from Cambridge University to strengthen the foundations of our students’ English. English teachers with internationally recognized teaching qualifications and plenty of experience teaching in international schools in the UK and the US will teach English classes in English only. IELTS and TOEFL training at various levels will be provided depending on each student’s English proficiency, to help them overcome future language barriers, and to provide a path for them to apply to universities in Europe or North America. MIS works with Thailand’s Srinakharinwirot University to provide top-level Thai language courses to our students, to cultivate them into top international talents who can adapt to multilingual environments and master multiple languages.

– Headmaster –
It is traditional for the school website to introduce the Headmaster of the school, to explain a little of the educational beliefs and philosophy that have such an influence on the school and the education it provides, and to welcome students and families to the school community.
My name is Timothy Ralph Cooper and for more than 30 years I have been a professional educator latterly serving 20 years as a Headmaster. I myself benefitted from my family’s choice to invest in private schooling and spent my formative years educated at the John Lyon School Harrow. My undergraduate and postgraduate studies were in the beautiful coastal region of Aberystwyth in west Wales, and as such I am a divinity graduate from the University of Wales.
A lifetime of service to schools means that I bring extensive educational experience to the post of Headmaster at Mandarin International School, having worked in the UK government and independent school sectors, in day schools and as a boarding housemaster. I have considerable school management experience as a Headmaster of both UK and overseas schools.
With regard to educational philosophy, as Headmaster of MIS, I bring a belief that every child is unique individual, coming to school each day to face a fresh chance for learning, and that no learning opportunity should be lost. Whilst the days of school are a vital starting point in each person’s lifetime journey of learning, and as such must be taken seriously, this stage of young human development means that there are also essential opportunities for both fun and friendship.
The philosophy of MIS is clearly at the heart of the school. MIS operates to high academic standards, leading students to transfer their knowledge and skills beyond the classroom. Our students are always encouraged to act with integrity, doing the right thing and utilizing their knowledge and understanding wisely. We value and celebrate the success of our students as they grow in knowledge and personal confidence.
The needs of the students are always paramount in the life and decision making within a school. I strongly believe in providing MIS students with a world class education of exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which both build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to grow and develop positively in a variety of ways.
My years in the classroom and school management make evident that the partnership of student – family – and school is at the heart of a great education, and key to this partnership is strong and open communication.
